From its humble beginnings in 1882 as a small railroad depot along the Atlantic & Pacific Railroad route, to the modern city that it is today, Kingman, Arizona is a warm and welcoming city to visitors or settlers alike. Its friendly, small-town atmosphere offers a variety of exciting local attractions, including stops along the famed Route 66. Historic downtown takes visitors back in time with cafes, shops, diners, motels, and the longest preserved stretch of “America’s Main Street” still in existence, while nearby ghost towns and preserved mining towns offer another taste of the area’s rich “Old West” heritage.
The Kingman of today is a modern city, beautifully situated in the scenic Hualapai Valley, surrounded by the Cerbat, Hualapai, and Black Mountain ranges. The area’s numerous recreational activities include fishing, boating, and other water sports along miles of shoreline on the Colorado River, Lake Mead, Lake Havasu, and Lake Mohave. Kingman also offers some of the finest golf courses, parks, trail systems, major shopping areas, and state-of-the-art medical facilities around, while serving as an economic hub for northwestern Arizona, with many industry sites just south of the city.
